GSDML / GSDX Specification for PROFINET
PROFINET , Security , PROFIsafe
Description:
GSDML (2.352)
The GSD (General Station Description) is the device description technology for PROFIBUS and PROFINET. It comes in two flavors:
- The PB-GSD for PROFIBUS using GSDL (GSD Language, keyword based), and
- The PN-GSD for PROFINET Devices using GSDML (GSD Markup Language, XML based)
This specification covers the GSDML, which describes a PROFINET device regarding its identification, its structure, its communication features, its process data, its parameters, and its diagnosis.
The intended audience of this document is device manufacturers (for writing the GSD file for their devices), engineering tools manufacturers (for integrating PN Devices using GSD files), and test labs (for triggering automated tests according to the device’s GSD file content).
V2.35 adds support for Channel Related Process Alarms and Media Redundancy Ring Interconnection.
V 2.4 adds support for Time-sensitive Networking (TSN), Remote Service Interface (RSI), Small formfactor pluggable (SFP) diagnosis, and PROFIsafe Parameterization in Run (PIR).
V2.4.1 adds GSDML signing and the element ProfileProcessAutomation.
Features of Version V2.42:
. Redactional and language revisions by technical writer
. ProfileProcessAutomation adds PADeviceClass “General”
. Support for Shared R1 with attribute MaxApplicationARs
. Chapter “AR resource management” improved accordingly
. Clarification on Signature checks, start with profile creation
. Line delay measurement adds 802.1AS support
. Add Stream RT class
Features of Version 2.43:
. Introduce the additional CIM interface.
. Support for APL devices.
. Support of version-independent record definitions.
. Introduction of the GSDX container for GSDML files and attachments.
. Align SecurityClass1 with GSDX container security.
. Introduce SecurityClass 2 & 3.
Features of Version V2.44:
. New record F_BaseID according to PROFIsafe 2.6MU2
. Structure information for readable records at the submodule
. Add meta information to these readable records
. ApplicationClass "Drive" and "Encode"
. Clarification: calculation for startup parameter size
. Minor of SecurityClass 1, 2 & 3 updates
Features of Version V2.45:
- Channels with non-contiguous data range
- Security: Make Security Class 2/3 dependent on Security Class 1
- Security: Ed448 algorithm becomes optional
- PROFIsafe: Correct F_Par_CRC calculation according to PROFIsafe 2.6MU2
- PROFIsafe: Added new attribute "PROFIsafeFSCP_TestMode_Supported"
- Restricted MainFamily value of "PA Profiles" for PA Profiles only
- Generate warning on DAPs with identical ModuleIdentNumber. Relevant for certification.
- All GSD examples changed to the new VendorID (0xF000)

GSDX (2.752)
This document specifies the GSDX packaging container file format according to ISO/IEC 29500-2:2021. GSDX pursues the goals packaging of any files and their referenced resources in a single container, validation of integrity and authenticity of packaged files, linking the origin of a file to a vendor or publisher and enable the integration of devices into an engineering tool.
